GRANDPRIX, a specialist in the equestrian industry, today announces the acquisition of The Chronicle of the Horse from Wellington International. Since its founding in 1937, The Chronicle of the Horse has been recognized as the leading equestrian media outlet in the United States.
This strategic transaction represents a major milestone in the international expansion of GRANDPRIX Group, strengthening its position as a leader in equestrian news and information. With this acquisition, GRANDPRIX will further pursue its mission of bringing together a global community of enthusiasts, professionals, and advertisers around its media platforms.
The leading American equestrian publication joins forces with a European player
Founded in 1937, The Chronicle of the Horse has become the benchmark publication for equestrian media in the United States. Each month, the outlet delivers:
- A print magazine with a circulation of 20,000;
- A website (chronofhorse.com) and forums with more than 500,000 active users and over 10 million monthly page views;
- A vibrant digital community, with more than 500,000 social media followers and 125,000 newsletter subscribers.
Recipient of numerous American Horse Publication Excellence in Journalism Awards, The Chronicle of the Horse embodies editorial excellence and enjoys significant influence within the equestrian sports world.
“This acquisition perfectly aligns with our ambition to build an international equestrian media group, able to accompany the evolution of the sport and provide the global equestrian community with accurate, professional, and timely information. It will also enable us to better serve our advertising partners seeking to expand their presence in this very dynamic market. The Chronicle of the Horse is a historic title, and we now have the responsibility to ensure its growth and long-term sustainability. This is both an honor and a motivating challenge for the entire GRANDPRIX team,” said Vincent Goehrs, President of GRANDPRIX Group.
“We are highly confident in the future of The Chronicle of the Horse under the leadership of Vincent Goehrs and the GRANDPRIX team. While the publication was no longer aligned with Wellington International’s strategic priorities, we are certain that GRANDPRIX’s vision and investment will allow The Chronicle of the Horse to continue to grow and thrive as a media of reference,” added Sean Gagnon, Chief Financial Officer of Wellington International.
A new chapter for international equestrian media
By integrating The Chronicle of the Horse, GRANDPRIX will bring its editorial and technological expertise to this prestigious title: modernization of formats and platforms, revitalization of subscription and distribution offers, expansion of editorial content, and enhanced international coverage of major equestrian competitions.
