Bart Kenis Combines His Passion for Horses and Entrepreneurship into Barnwalkers with Their Superior Products and Services
Bart Kenis combined his passions of horses and entrepreneurship when he co-founded Barnwalkers with Harry Knopp of IDA Development about four years ago. Since then, their company has supplied world-class horse shows and private stables with high-quality products and services.
Kenis named the company Barnwalkers because he says, “there aren’t many barns we haven’t walked through.”
Q. Why did you start Barnwalkers?
A. After my career in the saddle industry with LIM group, where I started out in sales and ended up as sales director for the USA, I felt that I was ready for the next step, the ambitious goal of finally creating Barnwalkers, a company that offers a range of the highest quality equestrian products.
Q. Why did you choose Smulders as your supplier?
A. Exclusive partnerships with international manufacturers are important in the global equestrian industry. Not only for the right price point but also for the necessary know-how and innovation, so we’ve obtained an exclusive distribution agreement with Smulders Horse Stalls and Horse Walkers.
Q. What separates Barnwalkers from competitors?
First of all, we want to offer the right products that every equestrian facility needs. While doing that, we also make sure that we deliver a turn-key solution. We have an in-house, experienced installation team for our stall and horse walker projects, and we constantly strive to be excellent in after-sales service and future maintenance needs.
Q. How are your products made and to what quality standards?
A. Barnwalkers stalls and horse walkers are manufactured to the highest quality standards. With 40-plus years of experience in steel fabrication, both mild and stainless, Smulders, our supplier in Europe, has a modern state-of-the-art machine park to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
The highest quality of the hot galvanizing process and in-house powder coating ensures longevity and ultimate rust protection. All of our stalls are delivered complete with the infill tongue and groove boards included. Many elegant options and upgrades are available to create the look and finish you desire while our mission remains the same; building the highest quality stabling equipment and hardware that is horse safe, durable, elegant and competitively priced.
What other products do you offer besides stalls and walkers?
We have dry treadmills, water treadmills and cold-water spas. These training devices become more and more a must in many professional show stables. We even have an experienced treadmill technician on our team now to service our clients year-round.
Another major new product we’ve added to the Barnwalkers line is the exclusive fencing and gates from our Belgian supplier De Sutter Naturally. For decades they have been the European market leader in fencing and gates for horses, known for their beautiful rural look, horse safety and longevity and market leading warranties.
We are very excited to announce that we will come out with a few more innovative equine products very soon that will add value to any equestrian property.
